Happy New Year!!! & read about my story in Take 5 Magazine

What a crazy time of the year!!  It has been hard to find a minute to sit down & update the SCOOP blog but today I really wanted to wish all our supporters, volunteers, board members, beneficiaries and schools a Merry Xmas & Happy New Year!

We’ve had such a great year as a non-profit – we had 2 successful fundraising events with the Charity Skydive and Quiz Night raising money for SCAO in Cambodia.  A HUGE thank you to Fiona from Brand by Name for all her amazing work this year with the SCOOP branding and our website. We also achieved DGR status so all donations are now tax deductible. These have been huge steps in creating SCOOP into a sustainable NGO.

With the website, branding and tax status sorted next year we can finally focus on raising even more money for the schools – Jeevan in India, and SCAO in Cambodia.  At the heart of SCOOP is the passion to support the children and teachers at these schools.  Supporting the schools is my biggest priority, but this year was hard for me because I often found myself focusing on the other stuff trying to build a non-profit – leaving little energy to focus on fundraising and publicity.

Now with the motorcycle ride in Cambodia and the Art Exhibition & Night Market we have a huge 2016 already planned.  I’m also currently doing a grants training course to source funds to support a boys hostel at the Jeevan School.

And one last thing! Our story was recently published in Take 5 Magazine – such great publicity for SCOOP Australia and we will be paid $500 (not the $2000 you see on the article as many have asked) which will be donated to SCOOP.

See you all in 2016!!

(and just a little more news from me – Adam, Emilia and I are very excited to announce baby #2 is due in June xx)
