In 2008, Andy embarked on a trip around Asia where he came across SCAO, an encounter that led him on the path to building SCOOP. Since then, SCOOP has grown to an organisation that has built and supported schools across Cambodia and India. It is Andy’s creativity and love for travelling, music, art and innovation that has seen him create a non-profit that merges altruism and inspiration with fun and adventure.
Whilst she calls Perth home she lives a semi nomadic lifestyle and enjoys volunteering overseas. Just before Jodi co-founded SCOOP Australia, she had just returned from teaching English for 5 months in Ladakh, India. It wasn’t long before she was back in India, this time spending 6 months at our partner NGO supporting the Jeevan School of Life. Is being with the kids and seeing them learn, create and grow that drives Jodi’s passion.
After university Lisa moved to Cambodia to volunteer for SCAO and then intern for the UNDP. It was these experiences, and her South African childhood, that compelled Lisa to take action for change. But her final inspiration for bringing The SCOOP Foundation to Australia was the birth of her daughter, who Lisa hopes will grow and learn that the world, and its people can be beautiful.
Being born to Vietnamese refugee parents Michelle is especially passionate about global development and brings that passion back to her home city – Perth. Having completed her Masters of Economics at UWA and Maastricht University in The Netherlands – Michelle aspires to deploy the skills she has learned and acquired for a greater cause. In her free time she loves brunching away at Perth’s newest cafes.
Darryl loves tennis, golf and music, particularly vintage guitars and Texas Blues. But it is his determination to right injustices that he finds most fulfilling, leading him to become a lawyer at Bowen Buchbinder Vilensky, one of Perth’s leading law firms.
Infused with a capacity to serve, Ricardo sees immeasurable value in education and empowerment, and strives to share that with people he meets and through workshops that he creates. He looks forward to experiencing the transformation and the change that the efforts of SCOOP has on the children and the communities that they engage with.
Our newest member has spent the last decade working and travelling around the world. It wasn’t too long after taking part in SCOOP’s charity skydive that Catarina was invited to join the SCOOP Board.
